Course Title: - Basic Psychology

Prerequisites: None


Course Description: - - This five part lecture series will address the history and development of Psychology as a science. Will explore the basic principles of motivation, emotion, personality theories, cognition, behavior disorders and therapy and psychological processes of small groups. Emphasis will be placed on the relation of theoretical concepts to experiential learning in the development of projects that explore the dynamics of behavior.


Text: Basic Psychology, Gleitman, Henry4th et al (Chapters 1-4 before first lecture)


Instructor - Dr. Beverlee J. Engle, HSD, ChT. Will conduct all lectures and directly supervise all student projects. She is a graduate of California Christian University and has operated private practices in California and Virginia. Dr. Engle's background includes family therapy, child and adolescent, and vocational. She is a nationally known speaker and has made numerous appearances on radio and television and is the author of several books.


Please Note: This course is a prerequisite for all other Psychology courses.
